Character AuditionsHere is the list of characters that already have a plot to fit into, and simply need a roleplayer. Important, high military ranks can also be auditioned for here, as well as historical figures of your choice (within reason...Henry VII has been long dead and buried by this time). You will need to audition by filling out a form and if you are accepted you must create the character's bio. Please pay attention to any given traits that each character has - a lot of these are vital for the role they play.
If you have a plot idea and you have some characters mapped out to go in it, which you don't want to roleplay, you may also ask to have an audition put up for them which you may decide the outcome of.
All characters up here are only loose skeletons for you to base the final one off of - you can add some developed traits to their personalities, decide their appearances, and change their names if you wish. Characters with an asterisk '*' beside them mean that they should be kept as accurate to the information given as possible. [/size] The Characters- Field Marshal

Character auditioning for: Alexander Hamilton Why do you want to roleplay this character?: My favorite historical figure ever. I’ve always been on the lookout for a proper place to roleplay him.
Number of current characters: 0 Sample rp:
An angry mob was rioting in front of King’s College.
These days, angry mobs of enraged colonists were not uncommon. The arrogance of the British Crown was to blame, of course. However, it was one thing to see an angry mob collecting in the streets and forcing some poor Tory to ride the rail; it was another to see it threatening to tar and feather your college’s president.
Hamilton glowered at them from the stoop. In a manner of speaking, he was blocking their way to the building’s door, but a single, slight student could not be considered a proper obstacle to a mob. “What is the meaning of this?”
A host of furious voices answered him, but one at the front took the lead. Hamilton vaguely recognized the face and voice, though he could not place a name to him. A fellow Patriot, most likely.
“Is that you, Hamilton? Have you given up on your country already?” The man spat, his face twisted with contempt. “Miles Cooper is a damned Tory. Get out of the way so we can give him what he deserves.”
Hamilton took a deep breath, and when he spoke his words were loud enough to compete with the crowd’s. “Do you not see what you are doing?” He threw his arms into the air, emphasizing each word with a sweeping gesture. “Ours is the cause of freedom and liberty! Doing violence to a man whose only crime is differing from us in political views would be an appalling stain on our honor. It is our responsibility to show ourselves to be the better men! If you do this, it will only prove to Britain that we are only a mindless, vicious mob.”

Post by John Paul Jones on Aug 5, 2011 22:21:45 GMT -5
Character auditioning for: John Paul Jones Why do you want to roleplay this character?: I am an Age of Sail buff and a proud American... not to mention JPJ is one of my favorite historical figures Number of current characters: 0 Sample rp:
Jones stood on the quarterdeck of the Ranger, one hand resting on the pommel of his sword as the other clenched into a fist at his side. The scene before him was disgusting, embarrassing, and downright ungentlemanly. As such, this lent itself to neither his endeavors or the American Cause.
"Samuelson, you're a damned fool if you think this Navy condones actions such as yours!" he spoke passionately, "We are officers and men sailing in the name of Liberty... a word that entails freedom... and fairness. What little credibility we hold in the courts of France can be easily lost by such thievery!"
Samuelson and his messmates stood in silence along the waist, against the rail with their hats in their hands. The only sounds for a moment was the murmur of the wind and the purr of taunt rigging, the creak of the sloop-of-war's hull and the muffled thud of the jolly boat made fast alongside. In the jolly boat's sternsheets was not the captured Earl of Selkirk as Jones had instructed, but rather a large mahogany chest containing the estate's entire collection of silverware, China, and crystal.
The Scottish Captain licked his lips, his jaw setting as he eyed the men, "You're no better than a rabble of pirates! I will not tolerate pirates aboard my ship or in the service for that matter. As such, Leftenant Simpson will accompany you ashore to see to the returning of your plunder and you shall apologize to the Lady Selkirk as any upstanding gentleman would. When you return you face a hold on your grog rations for the next week and perhaps even extra watches. I have a mind to put the cat across your backs but this war's demand for a battle-ready crew has saved your hides. Leftenant, take them ashore."
Simpson touched his hat in a salute and stepped forward, herding the men back through the starboard entry port and down the ship's side to the laden jolly boat. The sky was beginning to show signs of the coming dawn in the east; the stars were retreating across the sky towards the darkness they called home. There wasn't much time before the light would reveal their presence to the fishermen living along the coast. He hoped that his earlier actions had kept the British frigates hunting for him further to the south as he had planned.
Additional comments: None at present.

Character auditioning for: Banastre Tarleton Why do you want to roleplay this character?: Have role played him before, he's fun to write and have researched him, reenacted within the British Legion as well. Number of current characters: 0 Sample rp: Mid-day in South Carolina, the swelter heat of the summer made it rather unbearable, even the poor horses could barely remain in a living state. The tents that dotted Camden but even in such shelter it was not safe from the Carolina sun.
A thunder of hooves and up rode a charming gentleman whom a great horse, adorned in the green and buff attire like those who followed him but stood out as his attire was trimmed in gold lacing. Dismounting swiftly before his horse came to a stumbling halt and a soldier swiftly took the horse into his care, two steps upon the ground and already the helmet was off the 5'6" man of athletic build. His medium auburn hair shimmered in the heat of the day, casting a fiery glow upon the youthful man's head.
A few more strides and up he swiftly climbed the stairs of the former Kershaw home. And a fine home it was... for a Colonist. Three-stories, roomy and... rustic.
Striding through the door, his eyes glanced about as two Officers looked up and over to see Banastre enter the house. One returning to the task at hand sooner than the other who gave the young man a weak smile and nod, "Colonel", he acknowledge the cavalry Officer. "Where might I find the Lord General?" Hi brow barely lifted as he removed his kidskin gloves. The Officer who acknowledged him, nodded towards the dining room. Nodding to the other Officer, "Much appreciated," as his legs immediately took to moving, taking the youthful cavalry Officer to the wide doorway of the Dining room where he found Lord Cornwallis seated as he leaned back, deep in thought and two other Officers, one being General O'Hara, pointing out the troop posts, locations as some were marching, patrols and more as well as intelligence of the apparent approaching rebel army.
Standing there with good disposition and patience... somewhat. But that didn't last long as he strode over to a smaller wall table that held brandy and other spirits. Luckily it did not take long for Cornwallis to notice the newcomer- "Ahhh, Colonel Tarleton," Cornwallis sat up, "What have you to report," motioning for the younger man to approach while the others watched Ban with great interest and a harsh critical eye.
Pouring the amber liquid into a crystal clear glass, the placing the stopper back into the decanter. "Tis too damn hot!" and downed the glass of brandy. "Otherwise, devils of the countryside have made their poor horses lame and unusable, though have heard of a possible rebel stockpile hidden within the foundations of a church not but a two day ride from here, north of the Swamps." his wild medium brown eyes watched Cornwallis as he made his verbal report to his superior. Then turned back to the brandy, removing the stopper again to pour another drink. "Shall I... pursue this stock pile?" His eyes moved back to Cornwallis, eager to hear the answer, hoping it was the one he wished to hear as he placed the stopper back upon the decanter again.
Cornwallis considered this statement, and generally took it as fact. "Yes. Investigate this stockpile. If there is such a rebel magazine, destroy it."
Setting the glass down. Pleased with what he heard. "Consider it done." He grinned and strode back out of the Dining room, Cornwallis' eyes watching the young Officer until he disappeared out of the room.
Coming out of the house and trotting down the steps, helmet in hand- "Ban" and up rode George Hanger. "Ahh, Major Hanger," Tarleton replied. "Up for that game of Whist?" "Not today, I'm afraid, Georgie." Ban placed his helmet upon his head and smiled, "Time to have a little... fun."
Additional comments: If allowed, could NPC some other people whom interact with Tarleton. But only when necessary.

Character auditioning for: Johann de Kalb, French BaronWhy do you want to roleplay this character?: Hard to explain, but had always had a connection to this historical figure. He's very interesting to say the least. Plus, someone has to keep Lafayette in check. Number of current characters: 1 - Banastre TarletonSample rp: Eyes slowly opened to reveal the dark blue-ish hazel hues of the foreigner and rolled out of the makeshift 'bed' to stretch, cringing in slight pain of being rather stiff. He'd chuckle and curse if he could but did so silently and heard himself in his mind 'I'm getting too damn old for this'. But smiled, he really didn't mean that. He loved this life and enjoyed every moment of it. The light of morning had yet to cast it's warm glow upon the world, but that did not deter him by any means. Moving over to the table, shifting the chair, he sat and got to the informative letters he would write to his mentors and peers, as well as his beloved Wife, whom he missed terribly. The thought of her did cause his poor heart and soul to ache. Often he had thought about ending his tour of duty here and returning to France to live out the remainder of his days with his beautiful Wife. From the corner of his eye, he saw one of the sentries walk by as his desk was dimly lit by a single lantern. The sentry stopped a moment, barely to watch the old French Baron at this early hour of morning just after 5 to write letters. The sentry shook his head and went on about his guard duties with a slight yawn. Soon enough, the sun rose and cast it's warm light over the land. As the sentry had given up his post to another, who turned to see the good Baron de Kalb draw aside the canvas and step out, fully dressed in the deep blue and red of the Continental Army, with the markings of a Major General. "Good morning, General," saluted the new sentry as he stiffened, his musket to his side in a snap to salute his superior. Nodding to the Sentry as he strode forward," Morning." glancing both directions. "Another quite night." He said with prefect English and a pleasant tone, all the while listening intently to the sentry's reply "yes, General". Nodding again, "Shall see what the day brings us then." Additional comments: If someone wishes to take him on in the future, I will be more than willing to hand over the mantle to them but I will continue to play his Wife. Is pondering about... altering history a tad bit and have his Wife join them in the Colonies. I am still debating, but may add this one. Will toss this one in anyways: Character auditioning for: Anna Elisabeth Emilie von Robais de KalbWhy do you want to roleplay this character?: Nearly the same as wanting to portray Johann de Kalb.Number of current characters: 1 - Banastre TarletonSample rp: Striding towards the door with grace as though floating, her petticoats and overskirting rustling softly as she moved, barely able to hasten her footsteps as she approached the door. With a deep breath and collecting herself just before she opened the door. It was the Post Rider. "Les lettres pour la Dame de la Maison." "Je la suis. Je prendrai ceux-là," she replied to the Post Rider holding her hand out to accept the small bundle of sealed letters. "Merci." as the letters were given to her and the Post Rider trotted away, mounting the horse swiftly, saluting and tilting his cocked hat before riding off down the road. She turned, closed the door to the large home and strode towards the Parlor all the while removing the tie, and sorting through the mass amounts of letters. Some addressed to various mentors and peers of her dear Husband... but some were addressed to her. Smiling as she saw those that were for her. Bringing them to her lips, she kissed them and held them to her finely cotton covered breast as she sat down upon a fine chair. Breaking the seal of one, she hastily opened it, so eager to read news from her dear Husband Johann, whom she affectionately would call "Jean".
Aujourd'hui la chaleur était le départ presque insupportable mon trempage de mouchoir de sueur avec aucun soulagement dans la vue... it began, reading further into how that day went, his rounds, his horse going lame and more. But she could barely hold herself when upon reading that he missed her, and wished to return but remained as it was his duty. As tears welled in her eyes, one streamed down her fair light cheeks as she read the last of the letter... Oh, ma Femme bien-aimée, je vous manque avec tout mon coeur. Je souhaite vous retourner et désirera le jour je vous embrasserai. . Once again, brought the letter to her lips and kissed it sweetly, longingly while closing her eyes as another tear fell. Oh, how she missed him so. And her heart felt so heavy, almost filled with fear. Clinging to every letter he wrote. She was proud of him despite her family and especially the Royals were so very against this. They now have eased up and accepted he was gone to war, doing what he did best and keeping the youthful Marquis in check. She could only pray that she would see him again, that he would return home to her. She prayed but knew in her heart ... that he may not. Additional comments: If anyone wishes to play Johann de Kalb, I will gladly continue to play Anna Elisabeth.~Lady B

Character auditioning for: British Field Marshall Why do you want to roleplay this character?: Because I think I will enjoy it. Also I'm quite bossy in real life so I cant help smile when I see I can audition for this. Also i know a good lot of the military. Number of current characters: One; Dewi Caradog. Sample rp: He sat, staring at the tent canvas. Suddenly he stood up and threw his hat at the floor. " This is unacceptable!" He shouted in his cold voice. His supplies had been lost on the wagon trail. A small man who was the wagon master shook slightly at the sudden outburst. " Sorry sir." " Sorry is not enough!"
The tent was soon silent, the field marshal had ordered 4 weeks of rations and got none. He picked up his hat and put it on his head. " Let us walk." he said dragging the wagon master from the tent. The small man was red with embarrassment. Well, so would any wagon master if he was dragged through a camp full of angry redcoats. They all swore viciously at him.
The field marshal stopped outside the supply tent. He opened the flap revealing nothing inside it apart from empty barrels. " I want double what I asked for by next week or.." He drew a line across his throat. " Yes sir Yes sir. " The wagon master scuttled away almost in tears. Additional comments: any questions/anything else you think you should add

I'd rather you didn't take the position of Field Marshal at this moment time for various reasons.
One being that you only joined a few days ago, and if someone's taking on as a high position as this I'd rather they'd have been on the site for a while just so they're known amongst the community etcetera. Also, you already have quite a high ranking character (Colonel), and to be fair to others it's probably best not to have one person having all the commanders. Best to spread yourself around a bit, you know? :P Thirdly, there's not a great deal the Field Marshal can do at the moment, as there are very few characters to interact with (we have no Generals' Staffs etc.) so like as not the character would have very few things to do anyway.

In what sense? The units aren't established on the site so far, but if you want to create a character/characters for one/both of those regiments you're more than welcome to (so long as you don't create another Colonel - again, just to be fair to the others).

Character auditioning for: Wang Master Claude Runciman Why do you want to roleplay this character?: I have read the Sharpe book he features in and he is almost a complete match to myself. One problem: This site is set in the 1770s during the American Revolution, and Colonel Runciman's main feature is in 1811 during the Napoleonic Wars. At his eldest he probably would have been in his late teens-early twenties, and definitely not a Wagon Master-General. That, and the character auditions are for site canons, military ranks and historical figures, not characters from films and novels. Sorry!
