Delaware was first under the control of the Dutch, but in 1664 came under British rule. Currently, during the Revolutionary War, it has been invaded and is now partially held by the British, though the Delaware citizens and patriots are fighting for their freedom and to shake off the British control over them. Delaware supports a wide variety of foliage, with its northern third hosting mixed coastal forests. It is bordered by New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania, and is one of the flatter parts of America. The Delaware River also courses through it.
