Dewi sat slumped on a dusty bar stool, he scanned the old news paper. Nothing of importance, but it kept him busy. He took a drink from a glass, the clear water slipped through his lips and down his throat. He sat there in his breeches and his undershirt. It was warm in the Inn, it interior was rather rich for a small village Inn. It was about 7 Am, it was about 5 or 6 days after he had married Rhiannon. She was at the doctors office with some morning sickness or something like that. He had to go to pick her up. He walked briskly to the door, slipped on his black shiny riding boots. Grabbed his jacket from the hanger. He grabbed his helmet and clipped it to his belt. He pushed through the door and jogged through the light rain to the doctors office. He knocks the door.

Rhiannon was pale in the face and she felt sick to her stomach. She also was having muscle aches so she was just plain ill. She let the doctor examine her, even though she was pretty sure what was happening to her.
When her assumptions were proven right, she beamed and ran out to meet Dewi. She wrapped her arms around him, smiling. Her face went from pale to glowing.
"Dewi! I am pregnant!"

" Thats great!" He laughed in glee, hugging her. " Do they have to correct facilities here?" He was worried that something awful could happen. He sat down on a wooden chair. Smiling, he was happy. So so so happy! He fiddled with a small pouch on his belt, pulling out some money. He handed it to the doctor and said his thanks.

Rhiannon nodded,
"Mhmm, they do. I'll be alright, no worries," she told him happily.
"But won't you have to leave for the war, Dewi? I can still travel with you but after a few months I won't be able to move very easily..."

" I suppose we could guard this village for a while, but as soon as you feel like you can we will shoot off, the Americans are out there." He grinned, turning to the doctor. " How should I look after her?" The doctor simply replied, 'let her relax.'
The rain grew heavier but soon died out. He had wanted a break from fighting for a few months, but not this close to an unknown mass of troops

Rhiannon nodded and smiled. She still could move about and felt fine now, but she knew when her stomach began to swell she'd need to stay immobile as much as she could.
"I feel fine as of now. I am just pointing out the fact that in later months I may need to be kept in one area until the child is born," she said, still glowing.

" Lets get you back to the inn then." He said taking her arm and lead her out of the doctors office. He walked briskly through the rain, it splashed up into his face. He pushed through the wooden door into the plush interior of the warm inn. Dewi told her to sit as he went into another room. You could hear him rummaging through something. Then the sound stopped. He pushed through the door holding something behind his back. Dewi gave the medium sized sheath to her. " Its a knife, engraved with our names. Its my family's tradition."

Rhiannon sat down on the bed as she was told and heard him rummaging in the other room. She smiled when he walked in again.
"Oh Dewi...it's beautiful," she said, running her little fingers across the inscription.
She kissed him in thanks and put the blade back in it's sheath.

" So, I guess you now order us. Since I'm not sure how you feel and if you can travel." He sighed, he liked it here. But of course he would have to move on.
Dewi stood up from his knees to fetch a glass of water. He gulped it down. Dewi looked outside the steamed windows to see a damp cobble road, the rain had stopped. He had liked the rain but now it was time to dry.
Here comes the sun.

She smiled,
"As I said, feel free to continue to move as of now," Rhiannon told him, nodding. She felt fine enough to travel so far. She was a little light headed but that was just an effect of newly pregnant women.

Dewi smiled.
" Well then. Let's get moving." He pushes through the inn door, his clean whistle against his smooth lips. He blew it, men scrambled from their billets and onto their horses. it was a perfect time to move. He himself climbed onto his horse. A small rainbow hung over the air.
Today, he felt warm inside for the first time. And a massive grin tugged onto his face. His white teeth sparkling in the sun light.
He was so happy.

Rhiannon smiled and held gently onto his arm as he led her outside and called for the troops. She was familiar with most of the men by now. Some still made her nervous but she had learned by now to just stick near Dewi and she'd be left to her own business.
She mounted her own horse as Dewi did the same to his, and followed along to wherever he was going now.
"Where are we headed, Dewi?"

" On a hill, a very tall hill." He said slowing his horse down to a small trot. " On that very hill." He pointed at a very tall hill. " We will beat the Americans." He then kicked the horse into a gallop and followed his regiment up on to the hill top. They had a few wagons-enough to build 3 quarters of a circle. Dewi had been planning this for days. He stood on a small outcrop and looked at his men-they were dragging wagons up the hill with the horses to help. He would plan for the wagons to be emptied and tipped on their side to provide some cover.

Rhiannon nodded and continued to follow. She felt fine, still a little nausea from earlier but no dizziness like before.
She watched Dewi order the men around, not really sure what she could do.
"What shall I do?"

Dewi flinched slightly as a fly flew near his face. He was rather nervous, even though he knew the Americans were far behind. Dewi had prayed that their artillery, if they had any was bogged down in the mud after the storm. He was leaning against a wagon, watching his troops work. A man scrambled up to him presenting him with his officers kit; the dress sword ( it had been sharpened when they were billeted.) and the red sash. He slipped the red sash on and tucked his sword in it. Another man presented him with the regimental colours. Then a man handed Rhiannon the kings colours.
" Follow me." He said walking to the center of this hastily made haven.

Rhiannon followed Dewi after the man handed her the kings colors. She didn't know what to do with this, so she just held onto it. She was a bit nervous, but she thought she'd be alright considering she was with a whole regiment of troops. Plus, Dewi wouldn't let anyone hurt her if he could help it.
"Are they close by? I thought we were far enough away from them..."

Dewi stood in the middle of the 'fort'. He threw the flag into the dirt and it stood there. Waving lonely in the cold wind. Dewi grabbed the flag off of Annie and placed it next to the Regimental colours.
He then walked to one side of the makeshift fort and drew his telescope out. He extended it to full length. Dewi rested it on an upturned wagon and he gazed the horizon for any sign of movement. There was none.

Somehow, James had to tag along. He didn't know why, nor what business he had there. If his allies were gonna attack, he'd be free again, and would return to his regiment, the second Massachusetts regiment. His mates, the infantrymen he commanded until he was ambushed by these British bastards. What was so bad about freedom? If they were allowed to have it, why didn't the Americans? If there was no victory, he'd have to find another means of escape.
Then he stood up, and walked to an unusual sight in this type of camp. A woman.
"Hello, colonel James Durham, 2nd Massachusetts, pleased to meet you"

Rhiannon had dismounted her horse and began setting up her and Dewi's tent while the rest of the men scoped the near by area. She had grown accustomed to road life, but she still missed her cozy little cottage she had lived in a few months before.
She had just finished the tent and sat back up, taking a breath. She was still a little dizzy and nauseous from the morning sickness, but she was fine enough. An unknown man then approached her from behind, startling her. Rhiannon jumped a little, she had always been a paranoid woman. Being a witch made you that way since everyone wanted you dead.
"Oh! Erhm...hi. I'm Rhiannon Caradog, pleasure," she responded carefully. She didn't know him from Adam and wasn't sure what he was doing here.

Dewi snapped around, he saw Rhiannon chatting with the god damn captive colonel. He placed his hand on his sword hilt, squeezing the hilt in anger. Dewi drew it slightly, it rubbed against the smooth red silk. He gazed at the bastard. He took long strides up to the captive soldier, drawing his sword a little bit more every step until he held it in his hand. Dewi stepped in front of Rhiannon, he pointed the sword at him, threateningly.
