Danny ran as fast as she could down the gulley, dead leaves and dirt pebbles fluttered down in front of her and reached the bottom first, hiding her path. she tripped on a protruding tree root and rolled forward three times before halting herself at the bottom of the hill. she shook her head of the leaves that had caught in her hair and looked back at the boys, she dared not look further to see where her captors might be. looking ahead, she paused a moment when she thought she caught sight of a red flash upon the hill, but it was gone in a second and she stood to continue running. We have tae get up the hill as fast as possible, lads"

Soren was second down into the gulley, mostly because he fell and tumbled the rest of the way down. There was dust and leaves in his hair, and he looked like he hadn't taken a bath in half a month. He nodded at Danny's words, and Asher skidded, panting, to a stop beside them.

Danny grabbed both boys by their arms and shoved them up the next incline. behind her, she began hearing shouts of anger. the enemy was upon them now. soon there were pops from above and dirt cut up in little explosions at their feet. she ran up the hill, pushing the boys in front of her. if they were caught with her now, they would be branded traitors to the patriot cause, and perhaps even suffer worse than their escaped prisoner. she only hoped they could get away in time.

Soren shrieked as a small explosion of dust got in his eyes as she shoved them up, but did not fall. He hoped nothing really bad would happen. He hoped they wouldn't get caught...

the hill was steeper than Danny originally thought, steeper and longer too. they were only a third of the way up when Danny noticed the silhouettes on top of the ridges to their left and right. the enemy was trying to flank them. she looked ahead at the two boys who had freed her. they were young, maybe 15. she remembered being that age, at Lexington and Concord, 15 was an age too young to have a musket fired at you. she climbed up in front of them and began pulling them up the hill, despite her head wound throbbing and blood pooling over her eye, she was still able to move faster than them. "Climb! or it's the death of yae!" she knew the climb would claim all of her energy, but if she could get the boys away, she could save them from capture. and that would repay whatever small debt she owed them.

Faintly, Soren heard Danny shout, and even though he felt like collapsing, he half-climbed half-ran even faster, until he could hardly breathe. He could hear ANd feel movement on one side of him, and he knew it was Asher, but turning his head to look at him clearly was too much of an effort.
