(ooc: Crap! Lol I changed it, thanks for pointing that out.)
Ben felt a bit guilty for ignoring his granddaughter's visitor for a newspaper article, but the news had to be spread and he was about done with it anyways. When he answered his question about Abby, he replied that she was different. Ben could not help, but raise an eyebrow.
"Really? Different how, in a good way I hope?" He asked him curiously before watching him walk over to the kitchen doorway and ask Abby if she needed any help with the cooking.
"I do apologize, I do not mean to ignore your presence, but as they say in the newspaper world, news doesn't wait. As soon as I approve this, then it goes to be printed and then set off around the colonies." The elder man apologized as Abby meanwhile glanced over at the door in surprise. She was genuinely shocked to hear someone ask for her help.
"Of course you can if you wish to help, is Grandfather reading articles? He means well, you know. Have you been taught to cook before? " She asked curiously motioning for him to enter the kitchen if he still wanted to.

-ANDREAS Andreas nodded slightly at Mr. Franklin's further questioning about his opinion on Abigail. He really wasn't sure he knew the right words to describe what he thought of her from his short experience but eventful experience with her. Then again everyone is complex and probably can't be completely described in a few words. Well he didn't need to go to in depth anyway. I'm over thinking this.. He looked back to Mr. Franklin, “Yes, It's a good thing.” He took a deep breathe as he looked back over to the kitchen.
Abigail's grandfather did seem to be a very busy person, he couldn't blame him either. Running a printing press was quite demanding. So he might as well help out with the cooking, it might make things go along faster at the very least. Abigail seemed a little surprised that he had offered his help, which he had expected. Men weren't usually in the kitchen, especially not himself. He took a few steps in and looked around at the different items around the kitchen. “I'm not good with cooking... I can cut things if you would like...” He ran his hand through his hair as he glanced around the kitchen some more.
If it did require some sort of skill with cooking he probably wouldn't be much help, more of a hindrance really. He could load and fire a musket at least two or three times a minute, but he couldn't cook to save his life. “What are you making anyway?” It did make him smile slightly when he heard himself speak. His English was slowly becoming better, and the more he attempted the accent the better it became. Soon people wouldn't be able to recognize the German in his voice at all. Or... French, since that was where Abigail still thought he was from.

Moses handed Ben another article to be proof-read while he watched with a smile as Andrew walked into the kitchen to offer his help towards Abby. Abby deserved a good friend who was the opposite of her, she needed to relax and settle down at one point in her life. Ben would never force her to marry someone, but it would be nice. Maybe this Andrew guy can be a good friend to her.
Abby meanwhile glanced up and smiled at him while continuing to carefully place the chicken onto the pan that was on the stove. She rolled it around the pan that had melted butter on it.
"Well alright, you can chop the carrots if you want. The knives are in the drawer next to you on your left and just chop them up. You seem to know your way around the kitchen. Have you done this before?" She asked him curiously making room for him next to her which was the only counterspace that was free for now.
"Well I am making breaded chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and carrots. For dessert, I baked an apple pie which is Grandfather's favorite dessert. I hope that sounds good for you Andrew. I hope you will stay for that, but I understand if you have to leave. May I ask where you are intending on going? To report to the army or explore?" She asked him curiously slowly taking the piece of chicken off the pan using a glove and placing it down on the plate next to her taking the next piece and doing the same in the pan.

-ANDREAS Andreas looked over to where she had said the knives were and opened the drawer. He grabbed one that looked suitable then took a carrot and placed it on the counter space where she had made room for him. He rolled up his sleeves a little then grabbed the knife again and began to cut the carrots. He was glad that it wasn't something complex, like how she was breading the chicken, he probably couldn't so that. So there he was... Chopping carrots. If he had known last night that this was what he would be doing the next day then he would have... He wasn't sure what he would have done anything different really. After all he didn't mind chopping carrots at all, it beat marching farther North any day.
Abigail was a kind woman, he just couldn't believe his luck of running into her, literally running into her. It felt all like a dream now that he looked back on it, it couldn't have really happened. Well it wold probably just be best to accept it for the moment and move on. No use dwelling on it. Though he reminded himself that he would have to come to Philadelphia again and repay her some how. Maybe if he made some coin in the future he could pay her, though it seemed that her grandfather was making a comfortable living.
She asked what he was planning on doing after he left. “I was thinking I would head North... And join the continental army. It seems that most of the fighting is up there.” He smiled slightly as he finished, slightly proud that his English was getting so good. “I just hope that I can make it with out trouble from the British.” Really he just hoped he didn't run into any regiments he had seen before, mainly his old regiment. He wanted to make good time so it would probably be best to leave this night, before the sun was completely set. He didn't mind sleeping in the wilderness to much, the cold wouldn't bother him. Though he didn't feel like he needed to tell Abigail this.

It was still sort of odd for anyone to want to help anyone out in the kitchen, but Abby couldn't help, but wonder if Andrew felt at home in a kitchen or if he was just uncomfortable with his surroundings. It was so nice to have company in the house even though she knew he wouldn't be staying very long. At least he was not in harm's way anymore.
She smiled at Andrew gently when he was finished chopping carrots and she handed him a tomato when he was done.
"Want to do this too?" She asked him curiously before turning around and listening to him as she gathered pieces of bread and a couple spices as she spread them on each part of the chicken that was cooking on the pan.
"That's good, it seems as if your English is improving so if you are stopped by the British you could try their own accent or just post as a Loyalist or a Tory. If they will believe us together back there then they'll believe you on your own. If it helps practice what you'd say. General Arnold is up north, General Greene is in Virginia and Washington is still close to Valley Forge which is in northern Pennslyvania so they will be more than happy to enlist you there. When do you want to leave?" She said advising him of where to go. Whoever would have him, would be very lucky.
Suddenly a loud crash was heard from the printing press and Abby turned around gasping loudly as she could barely recognize Ewan, her old fiance, flying into the kitchen and grabbing Abby by her throat throwing her against the wall.
"Who the hell do you think you are, you harlet! You think you can escape me? That will never happen. And now I hear that you are betrothed to someone else!" Ewan growled pushing his hand against Abby's throat causing her to gag loudly while choking on her own air.
"Ewan let her go now." Ben ordered walking into the kitchen as Moses threw Ewan off of Abby and she backed off quickly bumping into Andrew swiftly.
"Did you know she was betrothed Ben? She is a street whore." Ewan barked at him and Ben glanced over at him and then at Andrew and Abby.
"Is this true? Is this why you brought him back here Abigail?" He asked her curiously as Ewan growled and went towards Abby once more.

-ANDREAS Andreas smiled softly when she asked if he wanted to chop a tomato also. Seemed like the best thing to do for the moment. He nodded then took the tomato and started to dice it. He found that it was beginning to make him relax. He felt as though everything would work out, now that they had escaped those British that Abigail had upset. Well it also felt nice to be free of the Hessian army finally, after almost two years of service.
He listened intently as she continued on, complimenting his English. Of course she could recognize that I have some sort of accent so my accent still needs work... He looked back down and listened to the different General names that she told him about. This Arnold person would probably be the person that he would serve under if he managed to get into the continental army. All he knew was that he was going to go North, where the Patriots were stronger and there were less British crowding the streets. He'd have to go past New York though, so Massachusetts seemed like the best place for the moment. Then she asked when he would leave. He opened his mouth to respond, but was immediately cut off by a loud crash from the printing room.
He looked over to see what had happened, but then a man came storming into the room as if he owned the place. To Andreas's surprise this man came right up to Abigail and pushed her against the wall. His brow sunk and he had almost punched this man out of reflex. Then he heard him shout some gibberish, his tone was so angry that the words sounded mumbled. All he knew was that Abigail was gagging, and he kept putting force on her. Just as he was about to pull the man away, Moses and Ben came in. The man was peeled off of her and she staggered backward bumping into Andreas momentarily.
The man barked out something else, the only word he got was betrothed. Then it all suddenly made sense, Oh crap. This man must be some one that Abigail knew and possibly had been engaged to before, or was engaged to. Though he doubted that she would be engaged to some one so violent, there was no way her grandfather would allow that. Mr. Franklin then asked if Abigail had brought Andreas there because they were betrothed. He frowned and shook his head. He would have said something in response but noticed that the man was coming close to Abigail again, possible to grab her or hurt her. Like hell he would.
Andreas stood in front of Abigail getting in between her and the violent man, “Not a step closer.” He frowned at the man, his features starting to look menacing. This was serious, and he wasn't sure what exactly he had gotten himself into by following Abigail home. There was no way he'd let this guy hurt her though. He still had the knife in his hand and made sure that the man knew it by lifting it up a little.

Abby could not believe this was happening right now. Last time she had even seen Ewan was years ago when she had run away from his home in Norfolk, Virginia. Where the hell had he even come from and how the hell did he hear of their betrothal, or their lack of one.
"Ewan don't you dare touch me again." She spat out before seeing Andrew step in front of her and tell Ewan not to take a step forward towards her. It was kind of Andrew to stand up for her even when he didn't have to.
Ewan just simply laughed at Abigail's attempt to be brave and then scowled towards the man who had defended her.
"So you must be her fiance then? Well she will leave you just like she left me. She is nothing, but a whore. She has been taken by a man before, she is dirty. Worthless." Ewan spat out at him and Abby growled behind Andrew moving around him to give her old betrothed a fist to his face, but was stopped by both Moses and Andrew. She quickly placed a hand on Andrew's arm gently.
"No, he's not worth it Andrew, Ewan remove yourself from our sights." She barked at him trying to move around the two, strong men holding her back.
"Ewan I demand you leave now before I call for the authorities." Ben said glaring at Ewan who scowled and pointed at Abby who looked a bit frightened yet strong.
"I'm not through with you yet Abigail, you will be mine again." Ewan threatened as Moses left her with Andrew and grabbing him by his arm leading him out towards the door. Abby gripped tightly a hold of the countertop behind her starting to shake gently. Ben turned towards her and Andrew and slowly made his way over to her.
"Abby please talk to us, are you alright?" He asked her softly and she nodded and wiped away a couple loose tears that had come down her cheeks.
"Yes...yes I'm fine. Andrew are you alright? I am so sorry. He was my fiance who was abusive and rude to everyone around him including myself. There were several nights I was beaten by him and he was lying when he said I was a whore. I never have been with anyone...." She said softly directing her attention towards Andrew who was looking at her.
"So you two never answered me, are you really betrothed to each other?" Ben asked them curiously staring at them curiously.
"No we are not, we both were escaping from British soldiers in the market and ran into one another so to get them to leave us alone, we posed as a betrothed couple." She replied softly not wanting to see the look on Ben's face.
"I see, is this true?" Ben asked Andrew curiously.

-ANDREAS The man was glaring at him angrily, and Andreas just glared back, almost daring him to make a move. Abigail had said a name, 'Ewan' was what she had called him. Ewan began to speak again, and Andreas just simply listened. This time he was able to understand, he was going on about how she had left him and was worthless. He also used the word 'whore' Andreas of course didn't know what that word meant. Though the context that he used it in made it sort of obvious what it could mean.
Abigail was about to punch the man, but he and Moses both stepped up to stop her before she did anything. She also put her hand on his arm gently, the one with the knife, and told him that Ewan wasn't worth it. He nodded softly, though he didn't care if she saw or not. Instead he kept his eyes trained on the man. Ewan could easily get to them while they were distracted. Mr. Franklin threatened to call the authorities, and then Moses led him out. Ewan spat one last thing at Abigail, the sentence sending a shiver down Andreas's spine. She was in some serious trouble. And he had just so happened to run into her of all people.
She seemed to be pretty shaken up, obviously no one had been expecting something so abrupt. She told her grandfather that she was alright though, which he was relieved to hear. She asked if he was alright, Just confused really, didn't expect her old lover to come raging through the door. That was how he felt, but instead he just nodded slightly. He set the knife down on the counter as he listened to her explain he relationship with Ewan. It sounded completely awful, it really made him wonder how some one like Abigail could be tricked into some thing like that. People were deceitful, and could be very convincing. This he knew all to well himself.
Then she explained to her grandfather what had happened earlier in the day. He turned to him and asked if this was true. He couldn't hold the old patriot's gaze for very long. It felt demeaning, but even when he looked away he would still feel the man's eyes glaring at him intensely. He could feel himself beginning to calm down, all of the English he had learned coming back again, “Yes sir, she is telling the truth. I had been running from the British all morning... and if it had not been for Abigail's quick thinking... I would have been caught.” That was the truth, all of it. So he could say it confidently. This morning he had thought the most excitement he would have, would simply be escaping. The day had gone far beyond his expectations now.

Abby was still in a state of shock, it wasn't as bad as before now that the truth was finally out in the open. Her grandfather knew the truth now, both her and Andrew had confessed it and she felt a weight off of her shoulders. It didn't last long though, for the guilty of letting Ewan suddenly enter their lives again was weighing her down.
Ben meanwhile helped Abby stand up tall and she squeaked and ran over past Andrew over to the stove and continued cooking before the house could catch fire. She had had too many close calls like that before. It also was her way of changing the subject and Ben sighed softly.
"I see it seems you two have saved each other then, so you both were running from the British. Andrew's explanation is easy for the British do not like foreigners except for Hessians. Why Abby?" He asked her curiously heading over to their table and leaned against it.
Abby turned red immediately as she continued to cook, "Well umm...one soldier bumped into me literally, made me drop the food and I ummm got smart. I know it was wrong, but I am tired of them getting away with everything."
"I understand dear, but you can't do that." Ben pointed out with a sigh as Abby finished her cooking on the stove and turned it off placing the last piece of chicken on the plate. She nodded wiping her hands on her apron and then finished with the mashed potatoes and gravy that she made from scratch. Sweet Mrs. Jenkins from next door had given her so many of her own recipes that were very delicious.
"Andrew can you help me set the table? It's in that room over there." She asked taking the knife he had used and placed it carefully into the sink and then handing him a couple plates before suddenly remembering that she needed some corn from outside.
"I'll be right back with the corn." She said walking to the back door and pushing it open heading over to their small garden and grabbed some ears of corn that looked good enough to eat. She bent down and grabbed the small can of butter before turning around and gasping loudly at the sight of Ewan standing there looking beyond livid.
"Well hello there my love."
"Leave me alone Ewan, Andrew is waiting for me inside." She said trying to move past him, but he was taller and stronger and he immediately grabbed her arm and guided her towards the barn. Immediately protesting, she began to try and escape his grip which was incredibly tight on her. She knew screaming could lead to her being really hurt, but everyone was in the kitchen so they could possibly hear her.
"Help!!" She screamed as loud as she could before a large hand went over her mouth and her screams were suddenly muffled.
"Listen here harlot, you better stop screaming or your so called fiance will be killed in a matter of seconds when I am done with you." Ewan hissed in her ear and she gasped with her eyes wide at the idea of Ewan attacking an innocent man like Andrew. She suddenly bit down on his hand hard trying to escape him once more. He yelled out in pain still keeping a hold of her tightly as he literally dragged her to the front of the barn.
"You touch a hair on his head and you will deal with me Ewan, I am short, but I will fight back. Mark my words." She defended everyone growling at him before being slammed against the barn door, her back making contact with the large lock making her gasp in pain.
"Shut your trap now Abigail, I will not hesitate to take you back to Virginia with me and see him crawling to me begging me to release you. It will be fun before I will kill him myself with my bare hands." He replied back to her and she realized that he had the means to kidnap her. She was not going down without a fight and hopefully someone could hear her.
"Help me please!!!" She screamed once more before being thrown into the barn and Ewan closing it behind him as she landed on the straw. She watched him nervously as he smirked and walked over to her and then kneeled down besides her lifting up the ends of her dress.
"My my, you sure are looking very beautiful, especially since you are all flustered and angry." He said starting to lift up her dress and she kicked him away snarling at him literally.
"Leave me alone." She said to him scooting away from him the best that she could hoping that someone had heard her and would come to her aide.

-ANDREAS Andreas was still trying to get over what had just happened. It seemed for the moment the commotion had died down. He listened as Mr. Franklin and Abigail talked it out, he flinched slightly when he heard Mr. Franklin mention the Hessians. All it did was remind him that he had to keep moving by the next day at the very latest. He looked away towards the printing press as he tried to hide his exasperation from them. His bones ached as he realized how tired he really was.
Abigail asked him to set the table and he turned back and smiled lightly. She seemed to be getting worn out from all the excitement as well. And rightly so, that lunatic had nearly tried to kill her. Still it would be nice to sit down to a quiet dinner and just enjoy other people's company for a while. So he walked over to the room she had pointed at and began putting plates down. It hadn't been but two minutes when he heard a cry erupt from the garden. He walked back into the kitchen, seeing that Mr. Franklin looked just as startled. “I will see what happened.” He nodded at the older gentleman. This might be serious, although he prayed that nothing drastic had occurred. Still is was good to be safe and send the more youthful large male out in case there was another person out there.
As he walked over to the door he tried to suppress his worries that Ewan had come back. He heard a couple of thuds and that was when he felt a shiver run down his spine. He burst through the door, suddenly aware of the danger she could be in. Immediately he saw the barn door shut and another gut wrenching cry come out of the barn. “Call for the authorities!” He yelled back into the house for anyone who was in ear shot. He ran swiftly over to the barn then paused before he came bursting through. What if this guy was armed? Then what, be shot in the chest and leave Abigail to her fate?
Sweat started beading down his head as he realized he had to move fast. Then he noticed a few gardening tools, specifically a hoe. He grabbed it then went over to the door and took a deep breathe. Just as he had collected himself he raised a fist and knocked on the barn door very loudly. “Come out and face me coward!!!” He shouted at the door and whoever had taken Abigail, although it was probably Ewan. Just as soon as he had finished he darted to the side of the barn where he couldn't be seen. He raised the hoe up and waited for the man to open the door and fall into his trap. This was the best he could hope for, and there was no telling what could happen when Ewan came out.

Ben watched full of worry and curiosity after Ewan left his granddaughter very closely as she seemed to take everything with strive and continue to prepare dinner. That was how Abby was, she bottled everything up until she exploded. Ewan had sucked the life and spark out of her when they were betrothed and she had left him in Virginia to come to Pennslvania seeking a new life. Now he prayed that he would not do the same to Abby once again. He watched Andrew smile and agreed to help her when Abby announced she needed to retrieve the corn from the gardens. He nodded at her smiling gently as she left slowly standing up and walking towards the printing press when he thought he heard a scream. He turned his head back towards the back door and Andrew obviously heard it as well and he told the older man that he would see what was happening. "Thank you." He said softly and then watched Andrew disappear for a minute and then stormed in asking for Ben to call the authorities. His eyes went wide as saucers through his bifocals. "The authorities? Andrew wait!" He exclaimed, but Andrew had already left and he quickly walked into the printing room where Moses was. "Ben? What's wrong?" Moses asked curiously and Ben sighed. "Get the authorities over here now, Ewan is back and I am afraid he has Abigail. Andrew just went to find her and hurry Moses please." Ben pleaded as Moses immediately jumped up with James and they both raced out of the house and Ben prayed silently that Abigail was alright *** Ewan growled and he reached over to slap Abby hard across the check to get her to stop screaming. Abby cried out once more holding onto her cheek that was slowly starting to throb in pain. She growled and kicked him hard in the stomach jumping up wincing in pain. A long bang was heard at the barn door and they both recognized Andrew's loud voice outside challenging Ewan to face him. Ewan growled as Abby screamed once more and ran for the door. "You may run my dear, but you will never escape from me Abigail my love. You are mine." He snarled at her and she growled once more. "I was never yours." She said rushing out the door and running to the side as she suddenly gasped at Andrew holding something above his head probably for Ewan. "Good God Andrew...." she said gasping for breath before hearing the door open and feeling herself being pulled behind Andrew as Ewan appeared smirking at Abby hiding behind this prick of a man whom she was betrothed to. She suddenly grabbed Andrew's arm tightly gasping while Ewan slowly pulled out a knife from his pocket and a pistol from his waist. "No Ewan you don't touch him." She said tough trying not to get emotional in front of him. "So you think I am a coward? Well I shall prove you I am nothing of the sort." Ewan said holding the gun up and suddenly ducking when Abby stepped to the side and swung a shovel at his direction and he dropped the pistol in shock. Ewan growled and went over to face her when Abby once more felt herself being pushed backwards and she watched helplessly as the two men began fighting once more. She hated any kind of violence and she immediately went to try and separate them. "Ewan please stop it!" She pleaded loudly as she found an opportunity to step in the middle and went to turn around when she felt something hard connecting towards her eye causing her to yell out and fall on her back in surprise. She held onto her eye as it dawned on her that she had been struck in the eye and she glanced up with her free eye as she saw the look of shock on both men's faces groaning as she landed hard on her back on the ground.

-ANDREAS There was some commotion in the barn. He tightened his grip when he heard their muffled voices through the barn wall. Then the moment he was waiting for came, the door opened. He raised the hoe and was just about to strike the person when he saw the shocked face of Abigail. She was obviously surprised to see him ready to crack some one's head open. There was no time to explain though so he grabbed her arm and pulled her behind him. It was to late though, already Ewan had come out the door and now he was standing in front of them. He would have whacked the man then, but froze when he felt Abigail hold onto his arm tight.
Ewan had a knife and pistol out. Andreas slowly started to lower the hoe as the man spoke. He wasn't paying attention to what Abigail was doing behind him. Suddenly she stepped forward and swung a shovel at him. He took a step back out of surprise and realized that the shovel had missed. He let go of the hoe entirely then pulled Abigail back before Ewan could retaliate. He swiftly jabbed at him, though it missed by an inch.
He side stepped as Ewan swung at him. Andreas took the opportunity to upercut him in the gut. It only fazed him for a moment, and soon another jab at Andreas, this time hitting him in the jaw. The pain was sharp and his head swam for a few moments, but he couldn't dwell on it for long, because Ewan was coming at him again. Adrenaline rushed through his veins as the two men brawled. The heat of battle was blurring everything else out. He wasn't even sure if Abigail was still around or not. Then out of no where she stepped in front of him. Immediately he halted before he struck her.
She yelled at the two of them, and he took a step back as time seemed to slow down again. Ewan struck her on the face and she flew back. His eyes widened as he looked down at her in shock. Ewan finally seemed to catch on that he had just hurt 'his love' and not Andreas. He couldn't help but feel anger swell up inside of him, the fool couldn't even control himself. Abigail had said that he used to beat her before so obviously he wasn't right in the head. Just then there was some loud stomping noises coming from the house. The authorities. He realized as the attention seemed to shift to the door that flung open.

Abby watched in horror as the two men began to violently fight one another in front of her. She wanted them to stop them immediately, however, when she tried to move her backside began to burn her badly enough that she knew she would have bumps and bruises on her. She was clumsy enough that she already know she would be injured somehow during the scuffle. Scowling a bit as she heard Ewan moving to stare at her in shock.
"Abby oh dear God I'm so sorry." Ewan said gently trying to reach over to her, but was pushed away and she scowled and moved away from her on the ground closer to Andrew.
"Leave. Me. Alone. Now." She spat out scrambling up as Ben and Moses ran outside with the proper authorities. She felt someone helping her up and she immediately clinged to Ben and Moses feeling safe with them. Moses held her close as the officers glanced at them.
"He's a free man gentleman, however, that man over there was betrothed to my granddaughter and has constantly stalked her and beat her when they were around one another. So she fled the engagement and came to live with me here for sanctuary gentlemen. Now he has come back and has threatened to kill her and I assume he hurt you Abby dear?" Ben asked Abby curiously holding onto her tightly and she slowly nodded.
"Yes that is true."
"No it's not, he was the one who attacked her! This foreigner! Arrest him gentlemen!" Ewan shouted pointing at Andrew and Abby growled and slowly walked over to Andrew and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"No he did not Ewan and you know it. Gentlemen please, Andrew here is innocent about everything. He was only trying to protect me. He never meant any harm." She told them clearing her throat.
"Why would he want to protect you?" One person asked curiously and Abby gulped in nervousness. She didn't know what to say right now. However she felt her grandfather slowly approach them.
"Because he is her fiance now gentlemen. My granddaughter is betrothed to him and Mr. Davenport here could not handle that so he brutally harmed her." Ben replied as Abby glanced at Ben in shock. He nodded at her and Abby slowly took Andrew's hand in hers and squeezed it gently scooting a bit closer to him for appearance sakes.
"Is that true?" One asked and she slowly nodded.
"Yes we are betrothed sir." She replied and suddenly Ewan lunged forward to grab her and all the men grabbed him and began to drag him off.
"This isn't over Abigail my love, not even close! I'll be back!" He growled at her and getting lose of their grip and running off quickly. Abby's eyes went wide still gripping onto Andrew's hand and she found herself starting to shake a bit at his threats. Ewan would be back, she knew it and she was terrified.
